In early March the Japanese celebrate Hina Matsuri, or Girl's Day. Dolls are set out and dressed in Heian period clothes, or more specifically, it's the court of the Emperor and Empress set on different platforms. So throughout February we get to see all these beautiful dolls on display and for sale everywhere. I want a set!
It's said that if the families leave the dolls up after March 3rd their daughter will get married much later in life. OH NOES!
Okay, I've got the Food porn out of the way. I watch way too much Anthony Bourdain, man. February was relatively quiet... but much local food was consumed.
Yokosuka is actually famous for being a Jazz town. So of course we have really cool Jazz bars hidden throughout the city. Younger Than Yesterday is one that is great for concerts because it's pretty large inside.
The day we went a young lady was signing, Mrs. Guarana. It was beautiful. At the end of her performance the owner made her come over to say hi... I think we embarrassed the heck out of her, lol.
Good food was served while the Rat Pack played on their HUGE projection screen.
And then the World's Smallest Margarita was served... Yeah. Yeah.
Bars in the Honch are pretty run of the mill. Chu-his and draft beer for 500 yen. Dollar Bills stapled to the wall, and usually Hip Hop playing in the background. If you can find one that's a little different, it's a keeper.
This is one of are favourites, Pit Stop. It's a Biker Bar. >:]
Dollar Bills stapled to the wall here? Check. But after that Popeyes is a little different. The Yakuza keep burning the place down because the old man owner won't pay the "protection" money. But luckily for us, the drinks are STIFF. and cheap. A couple max and you're slurring your words, lol. Why people would buy beer there, I don't know.
So it's a kewl dive, dirty, pretty shady and you get to look at the scorch marks on the walls. Just wish they'd play better music. :D
Awww, Valentine's Day. Chocolates, flowers and HOLY BALLS CRAB LEGS.
Terry actually had duty on Valentine's Day so we celebrated it later. He went off base and bought a huge feast of things he and I like to eat --ZOMG CRAB LEGS!
Don't ever complain about your $9 Ribeyes, folks. But mmmMmmm, marbling...
It was quite the feast. Let's just say that crab was frozen and made into crab cakes later, etc etc. LMAO.
Yay, Indian food!
Yay, Indian beer! :D
It was really delicious. Probably because the restaurant is named "Delicious". How convenient.
I praise the Japanese everyday and their love for curry. It brings me cheap Indian food and a town with like 6 Indian restaurants.
After that pig-out-fest you've got to wash it down with more beer.
Dollar bills stapled on the walls there? Check.
WOOOOOOOOO!
So like, you see these bottles full of water out in town often. Know what they're used for? To scare cats away.
Pfffffffftttt. HAHAHAhahah. Snort.
UHMERICAH IN A CAN~~! Why, I think the Japanese summed it up well on their coffee can in a vending machine.
Do you know about Mameshiba? No, watch the videos!

Okay, now you're educated. These little rascals can be found everywhere. We have been sucked in and now buy things with them on it --key-chains, peanuts, bread. Whatever it takes --gotta catch them all! XD
Well, we went to Akihabara for a day. The magical city of anime, maid cosplay and electronics. Unfortunately I was taking video all day... and Terry has the footage on his computer... in the middle of the ocean. So yeah.
We did end up at a really cool Japanese restaurant overlooking all the chaos below. I wish I could tell you what exactly we ate because all of it was interesting, strictly Japanese, and I haven't seen it again.
And fresh squeezed chu-his! They are so awesome. This one gave us inspirations to make our own at home. And we've been doing it ever since! :D
The funny thing is there was a mini earthquake during our meal. It's funny, 'cause a quake in the middle of Tokyo scares the sheit out of me. Do not want to be there when the "big one" hits!!!
Hey, the Japanese Susan Boyle! :D
...and Kurou in the bath. Awwww.
There is this magical place in town called "Aka Oni". Well, it's really just a cheap buffet, but it's awesomer than any buffet in America!
They have yakiniku and shabu shabu you can cook yourself on the table... which as a reminder, is bite sized morsels of pure meat (And okay, vegetables if want). They also have curry, ramen, crab legs, sushi, salad, and desserts! NOM NOM NOM.
And a cotton candy machine! The Japanese were totally impressed by Terry's cotton candy scooping abilities~
Somebody is jealous about Terry's cotton candy scooping abilities.
And then Rick decided to show up Terry's cotton candy scooping abilities by dipping the cotton candy in the chocolate fountain!
Cheater.
Do you remember Chile had that 8.8 earthquake in February? Well, we got the tsunami warnings. And we live right by the water.
Everything on the coast was pretty much shut down, including some train lines. TV the whole day was waiting for the waves to hit. We did get some but nothing catastrophic... well, I guess the 60+ billions in damages to the fisheries says differently.
So to the next month soon! We actually do stuff! :D
