I just found out today that the magazine for which I write, body & brain, is folding suddenly. The staff were all told today that they are out of jobs as of this Wednesday. They are all stunned, as they just set sales records at Barnes & Noble last quarter. Go figure.
I worked very hard to cultivate a good relationship with these folks, and it's daunting to lose this position. I know that I can get other assignments, but this was just so wonderful, because I had a regular column with them. Oh, well. Easy come, easy go.
On the up-side, I just got a few poems published. No pay, but I got a really cool free iTunes card and good exposure. If anyone is interested, it's at
http://www.stonewritings.com I wrote "To Become a Grandmother," and "Green Season."
Other than that, all is the same. I'm going to enjoy having friends over tonight to plan their wedding ceremony, which I will be honored to perform later this year, with the help of my beloved husband. To be chosen to witness/facilitate the merging of two lives must quite an incredible energetic experience, and I can't wait to be a part of it!
Well, that's all for now. Must go make pork chops. Over and out.
