Doing my Part

Well, I've broken down and applied for a part-time job. I have vacillated about this, first making a good effort to find something, then applying myself to my writing and Reiki, but it has come down to this. While my Reiki business grows monthly, I have acquired a certain amount of debt in getting it going, and this has resulted in not being able to contribute as much as I should to our household, as an equal partner. Reiki is seasonally affected, and so I decided to relinquish my complete freedom in order to assure my household of a small, dependable contribution.

The job for which I have applied is a cool one, as part time jobs go. It's with a company that publishes college level textbooks and also develops tests for the certification of medical personnel and others. I would be a test administrator/proctor. This would involve overseeing the computerized testing process and maintaining the testing center. It's kinda mindless, as I will spend most of my time spying on folks through a two-way mirror. But, it requires certification as a proctor and involves quality control for those seeking licensure to take care of vulnerable folks, so it fits well with my personal ideals.

Anyway, this seems like a step for me, because I really hate that my business expenses have robbed me of contributing substantially to my partnership. Everything is a process, but Chuck is working his ass off, and I don't mean to let him shoulder the whole burden. At least I will have some extra, reliable money to help out.

So, wish me luck, folks. I passed the phone screening and sent off my application today.
