I don't know if you'll see this reply, as you commented anonymously, but I just wanted to make sure that it was clear that calling Aiden a 'Negro' wasn't done in a racist way, but as a signal about the world and its backstory.
The whole idea of the AU is that in 1947, Roswell wasn't a crash, but the start of an invasion/colonization. From that point on, human history diverges - no civil rights movement, not a lot of cold war, everyone still wearing zuit suits and hats, Batman is still 'the Bat-man.' And any progress made on Earth, doesn't neccessarily translate to Atlantis, which is ultimately a work colony. I chose to call Aiden a 'Negro' because I wanted to draw attention to the roots of why people in this society just accept cloning and genetic enhancements and treating people the way they do the Defenders. It's partially because rights never got fully articulated to apply to all individuals in society. It's not ment in a derogatory sense (Vala does offer to fuck him in the meat locker), simply as a cue (one I intended people to really stop and say 'hey, that's not right') of the culture and language of the alternate world.
I seriously hope that I didn't offend you or anybody else by doing this. If I did, I apologize.
