2008 Birthday, part 2

May 23, 2008 20:01

Well, well, at the end, we celebrated my 24 years old as an event of some importance!!! From Thursday until Sunday I kept celebrating with family and friends.

At Thursday evening I hosted a more or less traditional tea party at my home with my parents, my granny, her sister, my godmother and my cousin. I made scones with clotted cream and strawberry and raspberry homemade jam (thanks Jamie Oliver and joyofbaking.com for your wisdom…)
I also made chocolate and ginger shortbreads, cucumber; ploughman’s and roasts beef sandwiches and a lemon cake with lemon frost. I’m very proud of myself, I have to say because it was the first time in my life that I made things like that, with recipes only available in English, and afraid that I was going to make a fatal error translating ingredients (recalling a fatalistic situation with a cake made with yeast instead of baking soda…TT. But that it wasn’t entirely my fault!!!!)FOTO DE LA MESA

Mmm...let's see: Sandwiches, olives with willies, scones with jam, clotted or devonshire cream with raspberries on top, ginger and chocolate shortbreads and mooore sandwiches!

From left to right: My grandaunt? Manolita, my granny, dad, cousin, auntie (and godmother) and my mum. And everything devastated!!! Hungry people!

Friday was a very calm day, relaxing and enjoying some of my presents, and I went with my parents to some Crépèrie, but it was a bit of disappointment…pity…I really like crepes and galettes, but I was expecting a little bit more. Don’t know…it was my birthday!!! I don’t have usually the chance to have dinner in a fine restaurant, with table clothes, and big wine glasses…bright cutlery…If I want to go to a place that I can afford, well…I do go to that kind of places all the time, and I like it, a lot, but not in a special occasion.
Saturday was another great day, and I’m not being sarcastic, I swear! OK, the beginning was a bit sad. Wake up early because my sometimes annoying cat starts mewing at eight in the morning. And you know that I’m a morning person. If I wake up, I cannot go back to sleep if the sun is out, so, I went to bed again and open a book.  And of course, lost the track of time. Nah, not really, it was too hot beneath the sheets and cold outside them, so at half past nine or so, I wake up definitely.
Since it was Saturday, I spent the day doing nothing. Writing, reading, making, yes, more shortbreads and a cheese cake for Sunday (at my little cousin’s demand). Darkmoona came at half past six and we had some tea with biscuits, the leftovers of the scones (just two), cream and jam and worked a bit in our fan fiction.

When the hour of meeting with more friends approached, we went to dress up ourselves. A bit of make up, a nice outfit and the night at our feet. But, I’m so slowly putting make up, so they came before I finished.
It was luck that Darkmoona was there for keep some company.
We drank a bottle of cava (like champagne, but better!!! Less sweet)and eat some biscuits; I opened my presents (a beautiful book about Paris, with incredible pictures form Darkmoona, and a cool threesome of stuffed microbes with their own petri from Pak. They are sooo cool!!! I love you both!!!)
We went to the restaurant a bit tipsy (me, at least), laughing and talking, and at the door was Rixar expecting us.
We made quite a bit of a show at the pizzeria. At first, we couldn’t decide what we wanted to eat, and then, we didn’t know what to ask for drink. And we made a wise decision: two big pizzas with pear and gorgonzola (unexpected but surprisingly nice), pesto and pecorino maybe? (I don’t remember) salmon with mascarpone (not greasy, not at all!!!!) and the other one with sausage and salami (eewww), aubergine with parmesan and I know there was someone with olives. And our beverage was red wine and beer, of course.
We laugh a lot remembering old times and so funny moments, and then we went to La Claca to dance a bit. And I agree with Borja, we are never coming back to that place. Is not worth suffering hours of boring music for a few great songs.
Well, a few photos of the night
