I guess life is shaping up a bit.
last night was Marshallpalooza. It was nuts.. in a bad way. I was stage manager and I ended up taking care of so much stuff that wasn't my job. I was okay with that because it was Lauren's show and I'm totally willing to help her out. By her co-chair left during the middle. I was like wtf?! Anyways, one of the bands didnt show up so then it was my job to rearange the whole schedule. Tech was pissed too because a bunch of performers were there that they didnt know where going to be on stage. So I had to keep everyone happy. I didnt eat dinner until midnight. That was kind of lame. Overall it was okay though. Big City Rock kicked mucho ass. I like them even more now. We rocked out. It was a good ending to the night.
I guess I should do an updated about my shows and life, huh?
10-12 Sherwood with OneRepublic and Say No More
This show went really well. Sherwood are such cool guys. Mikey (the keyboard player) was a sav. He was throwing things everywhere and dancing like crazy. He kept introducing himself to me and I was like "I remember you! haha" It was funny. They were very happy with the show. At the end of the night they said it was probably the best college show they had ever played. Mikey gave me a kiss on the cheek hahaha. OneRepublic was weird. I don't know. People liked them and they were really good live, but they werent as outgoing as the other bands. Say No More was amazing. I'm actually friends with them now which is sort of funny. It was good times. One of the best things about the show was that Lauren and Daneil came down for it. It was great first show and it gave me confidence that I am not a complete fuck up. YES! 445 people
10-17 Quietdrive, Waking Ashland, and The City Drive
This show was interesting. Quietdrive arrived and they are just sort of.. weird. haha. I got to ride in the quietdrive van. All of them are pretty nice, but Kevin (lead singer) is just sort of awkward. lol. They played a really good show but I think maybe I should have had waking ashland headline because more people came out for them. I met Jonathan (lead singer of WA). It was kind of funny because I was like hmmm who is that attractive man over there? And then he was like Hi.. uhh I'm with Waking Ashland.. and then like an idiot I replied "with or in". He said he was the lead singer and I felt like a jackass. Then we went in a ride in his truck and talked about stuff. He has really pretty eyes. So then I get a call from Jose (their tour manager and my good friend now. weird) about how they ran out of gas and were stranded. Then a cop came to help them get gas but then he gave them a ticket. hahahah. So I tell him I'm going to push back doors for them depending on when they get there. I was pretty much freaking out at this point. The city drive shows up and is pissed that they dont have a meal buyout or dinner. That was somewhat drama and frustrating. At the end of the night they gave me a shirt and I was over it. (Actually, since then I made pretty good friends with Scott of the city drive.. but meh..blarg. long story). So waking ashland finally comes and the show happens! It was a really good show actually. waking ashland was amazing and they are one of my new favorite bands. The show ends up being great. 375 people.
11-2 Ankore, Kareya, and Wonderstruck
I dont want to even go there. This show was a bust. Whatever. My reasoning for not booking hip hop anymore. 40 people during ankore. bang.
11-6 Minus The Bear, POS, The Velvet Teen, and Russian Circles
This was the most dramatic show ever. UGHHH. Drama queens suck ass. First of all, security didnt show up and the show was almost cancelled. Oh my God. It was the most stressful thing ever. Luckily I have amazing friends who came to work security for me, so the show went on! Then all the bands were being dramatic because the green room was too far. that was just a pain in the ass. I took the lead singer of MTB to do laundry and lasjdg. Ughhhh. I was frustrated that night. Everyone played really good sets but it was just stressful. I was happy when it was over. We sold the place out, which was awesome. This guy who is shooting a documentary made me feel much better after though. He talked to me for 20 minutes about how I was the best person ever and how I handled everything that night in the most perfect way possible. Although he was drunk, I aprreciated his compliments. 525 people
11-10 Say No More adventure
So James, Lisa, Irene and myself left UCSD at around 11:30 and headed to LA! We dropped james off along the way, because he was going to USC. So we drive and drive and after 3 hours make it to the grove. Then we spent so much time eating at Jonny Rockets and wandered around. I spent too much money at Nordstroms (what else is new!?). We just had fun running around and being girly. Then we headed to pink berry which is on melrose. Uhh so I didn't know melrose was kind of ghetto. It was sort of scary and really cold. Pink berry is really neat though. Its like yogurt flavored froyo and you put fresh fruit on it. It was good. Then we headed to the venue. On the way there we wanted to change so we went into this CVS pharmacy and it was scary. haha. Canoga park is not as nice as the website makes it out to be. We were afraid. So we ran and changed and ran back to the car and locked the doors. THen we went to the show It was so cute. Right when we walked in the guys of SNM were like "MELISSA SHINTO!!!!" We exchanged hugs and hellos, which was nice. Then they put me to work. haha. I sold merch for them, but it was fun and fine because they visited with us. So then after that they played an amazing set!!! <333 It was great until the point where I got kicked in the ankle. Ow. haha. So after that we were selling merch again and there was no change soI went to get some and no one had any. Thats when I realized my ankle was swelling and starting to change colors. So I asked for ice.. and guess what. They didnt have any of that either. It was lame. But then I got to see JESHA!!!!! I missed her so that was really coool. I was super happy to see her. We didnt get to chat for too long because I had to get back to my merch selling duties. haha. I made really good friends with Meryl, Jon from SNMs girlfriend. It was kind of random. We're giong to go to a show together on the 30th (hellogoodbye). So after the show, we headed to Say No More's house for their party thing. It was kind of weird because we were some of the first people to get there. So we hung out for a little while and then headed out to in-n-out because we were starved and tired. Then we went back to the party. We felt kind of weird because we didnt know anyone. At 1:30 we decided we would head back to San Diego. They offered to let us stay, but we figured driving back would be better. So we drive and drive.. and when we hit oceanside we hit THE THICKEST FOG I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE! And its like 2:45 in the morning.. ahh. It was horrible. People were flashing their highbeams at me so I went into the slow lane and turned on my emergency blinkers and went as slow as I wanted. People in oceanside drive 100mph no matter what time of the day or the weather conditions. The fog was so thick you could not see the road in front of you. It was so scary. It was like that all the way back to UCSD (45 mins!!!). Finally we got back and I just crashed. It was an amazing adventure. The only thing I wish I could have added was a stop by the USC waking ashland show. It was pretty much perfect though.
I cant wait until this quarter ends. My grades are not what i would like them to be (but I shouldnt be complaining..) haha. I am just so over these classes. I hope next quarter is better. My schedule looks beautiful right now.
I like new friends. =)
