for future reference: if you are staying at someone's house and they tell you not to do something, don't do it anyway-- especially if you think you can explain why you did it. and if that means leaving someone alone in a big city overnight, tough.
so. i've changed host families, due to not following the prior note-to-self. but it's a lesson well-learned, and i'm already wholly enamored of my new family. i am especially fond of my new 'brother', who's fifteen and a total smartass. it's great. =)
