Skankin' Spiders: Ska! Ska! Ska! with Big D and the Kids Table!

Since I moved back South from my dorm, I've been downloading music like a fiend. I'm way over maxing out my iPod. I think I only have half of my iTunes uploaded. Harsh.

I found heaps of good ones and trashed a lot of useless ones. In the past month however, my best find would be Big D and The Kids Table

Big D and The Kids Table is a third wave ska group. Like most ska bands, they were formed in the mid-90's. Their music is ska - upstrummed guitar, syncopated beats, walking bass lines, brass. I love ska. I think the world should stop wasting time listening to depressing music and lift their spirits and their outlook with some ska.

Their uniqueness is that they have a little flavor of white rap (think Beastie Boys, so the sound is almost like Nick Hexum from 311) and the brass is almost Big Band inspired.

Their newest album is called Fluent in The Stroll, released 2009. That was the first album of Big D that I downloaded. The band seemed to have gone with a different direction so as not to sound like the usual fast paced third wave ska band that we're familiar with.

Right now, this is my favorite Big D song. It's more Big Band/Jazz inspired and keeps my head cool despite the weather. I've been sending zip files of Big D songs, so if you enjoyed the song below as much as I have, let me know and I can email you some tracks.
