so, it's been two months since i came back. nothing much's happening here apart from that political turmoil. lost interest in that already. seems like we will never find someone who's really willing to make a change in this country. it's just hopeless.
a week of job hunting is boring, a month of that would be unbearable. and i haven't even tried that yet. just can't bear the thought of walking into those firms, giving them a copy of portfolio that will probably go straight into the bin. such a waste of...everything. so what am i doing...ending up in a production house, one that's friggin' far from my place...? or that funky little home office of mr. HIP who can't get his arse off his designer couch? (oh yeah it's designed by le corbusier and so i have to have it!?!). to be qualified you must have extensive experiences working on luxurious hotel, resort, club, and spa projects...blah blah. huh. coming back to same old question since pre-modernism era that in the end, architecture is only for the rich it seems...? where's architecture for community... think we need one here.
anyway thanks to jobbi who has suggested me a few cool firms with great philosophy. will look into that soon. but now see what i've just come across.
tsunami volunteer centre in khao lak. seen some of the works they've done and i actually like it alot. the idea of 'thaikea' for example, constantly reminds me of the good old days, working as a volunteer in southern thailand. making books and toys for children and helping them building their home. i guess i just miss that kind of atmosphere. seeing how they live in a remote but beautiful place like that and leaving all the consuming frenzy days behind...that'd be real nice.
