I needed that. I really, really needed to see them being happy. The painful parts in between were worth it for that one beautiful moment at the end where they deal her in. The first few scenes were very cute and funny. You've done an amazing job of interweaving their stories, especially with the Most Awkward Game EVER in the History of Cards. The end (of course) was tragic, but you gave us some hope in the short time before Dee lays the cards down for good. Poor Dee. Poor Felix. They were lucky to have each other.

I'm glad you liked it. I *really* needed something happy and relatively angst-free, too. (Wow, you know you're writing BSG fic when stories that are just about being disowned by your family, infidelity, and amputation are "relatively angst-free," eh?)

Seriously, so beautiful. They are the greatest BFFs ever. Great characterisations and I love the way it's seamlessly woven into canon.

Thank you! I'm glad you think my attempt canon-compliance worked. I felt a little guilty about not including Baltar somewhere, since he's so much a part of the card games in Season 1, but I just couldn't bring myself to do that to Felix in this one--Baltar is torturing him enough in my other fic that I'm stuck on at the moment.

Awww, sweet. I especially like that last one, with Roslin in there playing cards and musing about the relative aptitude of the nurses.

I've got a soft spot for that part, too. I love Roslin as a character, but I find I don't get much for writing ideas involving her because I'm not that fond of Lee and I don't think I could pull off writing Adama at any length, and those two are almost the only characters she interacts with regularly in the later episodes. However, I do have an idea for the story of how exactly that musical conversation Roslin mentioned here went down. Maybe I'll get to it someday...

BRIDGE BUNNIES!!!!!!! That needs to be canon NOW.

That was fantastic, and made me grin from ear to ear even if it was bittersweet. I loved the one with Felix terrorizing Billy, and Felix teaching Dee to play was so sweet. And the last one... Oh. ::sigh:: And Hoshi getting up the guts to finally ask Gaeta out, and Sam swooping in with his completely compassionate but somewhat clueless strategy....

I admit, I was shocked when I realized the CIC folks didn't have a nickname like "Raptor wranglers" or "knuckle-draggers" when I got to the point in the story that needed it. They deserve a nickname.

I was really pleased to be able to work in both Billy and Anders. I still miss Billy (and I agree with Felix--terrorizing Billy is so much fun), and I love Anders as an incredibly decent, all-around good guy who just manages to frak things up despite the best of intentions.

I'm planning on doing a Dee-Hoshi fic which focuses a lot on the CIC. Do you mind if I steal bridge bunnies? Maybe we can make it unofficial canon ;) It's just so perfect.

And yeah. You know what I'd like to see at some point, although I'm not sure there's any evidence for it? Early New Caprica Anders-Gaeta gen fic. That would be awesome. Anders is one of the completely decent ones... which explains why he had to die, I suppose. :P

Lovely fic! I really love Felix and Dee's friendship this way too - uncomplicated by sex or coupledom, just so genuine and affectionate. It has always been part of my personal fanon that Dee would sometimes have little sleepovers in Felix's rack where they would gossip together till dawn. *happy sigh* Thanks for that sweet image ( ... )

Aw, thank you. I had so much fun writing this. I wish we'd gotten to see how Gaeta dealt with Billy and Lee, too; I think he would've very much liked Billy and been very, very worried about Lee. I'm still a little mad for how Dee handled her break-up with Billy--I like to think she would've at least tried to smooth things over better if Billy hadn't died so soon after ( :( )--but yeah, as far as the Quad of Doom goes, I wanted to yell at Kara and Lee, "Just *pick* one and stick with 'em already!"
