Hi guys.
The hellatus is almost over! *hooray! confetti! it's a parade!*
Here's the thing, though. In the weeks we've been apart from our boys (and in many cases, each other), a lot has been happening on the Gaelic front. As in my life, not as in with our friends over on the Emeral Isle. Which you knew. ANYWAY.
As many of you who swing by my journal off and on know, I've been working as a contractor/consultant for the past 6.5 years. That means a quarterly stress-fest to make sure I have a job in order to support my family. Good times. While I was in California this past week, I was offered an additional role (no, not a new one, an additional one) that may not guarantee me being hired, but would definitely increase my exposure across the company.
This is good news on one front as I'm the sole financial provider for our little family and any steps that I can take to keep myself viable and critical and employed are positive (as would any reciprical pay increases, naturally). But, what it means is that I'll be increasing not only my hours, but also my travel for a bit (those of you in the UK - I could be in London a fair bit, so maybe we can find each other).
What does this all have to do with SPN and the Rambles, you ask?
It's going to be increasingly difficult for me to keep them up as I have been doing. I won't abandon them entirely; I personally really enjoy filtering through my episodic thoughts and talking about it all with you guys. But I won't be able to guarantee the immediacy as I have been doing -- I may not even be able to watch the episodes until two or three days later, depending if I'm traveling or in late meetings -- and I feel like the immediacy of the review is one of the primary draws for readers.
There are so many peeps out there who write up entertaining, insightful, and thought-provoking meta and reviews, I know mine is merely a blip on the radar, but it's been an important blip for me for going on 8 seasons now. Which is why this change is hard for me to put into action. A part of me hates having to admit I can't figure out a way to keep this committment because it feels like the first step to a parting of ways with different folks whose interactions have been the highlight of my weeks for years. But, I have to accept my limitations, and fitting this review in each week is not something I will be able to keep up with the change in my employment situation.
SO! As I'm able to watch and ramble, I'll post them in all the usual places, but it unfortunately will not be on a consistent basis or even every week, depending. I really do hope ya'll will come back as often as you can because I will miss you. I watch for certain names -- the regulars after so many years -- and I get a thrill out of seeing new names.
I hope you guys understand, and I am sorry about this.
With that, I'm off to reply to comments from the latest episode! I was waiting until this weekend to help rev up for the return on the 20th, even though now I'll be in Miami on the 20th and won't be able to watch until later on. Hope you guys have been doing okay over the hellatus and are looking forward to the boys' return.
Oh, and don't forget that in March (the 18th, I believe) we shift from Tuesdays to Wednesdays. Supernatural Hump Day. Seems fitting. *grins*
