One gigantic thank you

Not only do I have one of the best f-lists on eljay, but there are some pretty amazing people in the world.

A few weeks ago, I let you know that the hubs and I had decided to take a stand to not let Crohn's disease win. Since that time, we've started our training (which was pretty much as difficult as I'd imagined it to be, but I'm sticking with it -- quarter-sized blister and all) and have made it to almost 40% of our fundraising goal.

This is due in part to some generous and touching donations from my flist and those of you in the eljay world and I just wanted you to know how much your efforts -- from the monetary donations, to 'boosting the signal,' to the virtual support -- have meant to me. Asking for help...it's hard. Even when you're so obviously in need of it. Sometimes, especially then. But when you know that the reason you're asking is a worthwhile one and will help so many people, it makes the asking a bit easier.

And while I purposely didn't f-lock this post, I also wanted to say this. Once in awhile I'll get a note that says so-and-so has removed you from their friends' list and for some reason, even if I don't know that person, have never talked with that person, and honestly didn't realize that person had added me to their list in the first place, that note bears a tiny sting.

But, the Internet is an interesting place and everyone has a reason for doing what they do. And while I may not be the most prolific of eljay posters, I have no intention of decreasing my list anytime soon, so ya'll are stuck with me and this GIGANTIC THANK YOU! (It would actually be gigantic, but I don't know the html code for "make font larger.")

Thank you for helping me believe I can do this, for giving me another reason not to give up, and for showing me that even when I'm lonely, I'm not alone.

Oh, one more thing. I wanted to let you know that I'm collecting names. A few who have donated have shared with me that someone in their family or circle of friends is suffering from Crohn's or U.C. I'm writing down each name and (I know it might sound cheesy to some, but...) I'm carrying that list with me through the marathon so that, symbolically, we can cross the finish line together.

If you have anyone you would like to add to the list, just drop me their name here.

Slainte!
