Sherlock Holmes Fandom Questions

Oct 15, 2011 00:56

Please excuse the spam, but I wanted to get a wide selection of people
in all facets of the SH fandom.

I'm going to a conference in November and giving another paper on fandom,
this time the Sherlock Holmes fandom -- or fandoms. I'll be discussing
differences between Canon (Conan Doyle's stories), Granada (the Jeremy
Brett series), the Ritchie-verse (Downey and Law), and the most recent version,
the BBC's "Sherlock."

So if you participate in any of these, take a look at my short questionnaire
and answer any or all of the questions. It will help me to have more fan
input. Your answers will be, as always, confidential.

You can answer here or e-mail me privately at:
gaelmcgear@aol.com

1. In which segment(s) of the fandom do you participate? Canon? Granada?
Ritchie-verse? "Sherlock" BBC? Other?

2. What attracted you to this fandom? How did you get into it and how long
have you been in?

3. Do you read fanfiction? Write it? Write meta and/or other commentary?
Make graphics/art? Other? What about crossovers with other fandoms?

4. Do you have favorite characters or pairings? What do you like about them?

5. Do you read and/or write SH slash (as opposed to general stories about the
characters)? Which characters do you slash? If you don't do slash, do you have
any objections to it in this particular fandom?

6. Any other comments on the Sherlock Holmes fandom(s) are very welcome.

This is for an academic conference, so I'm serious about wanting to know
your thoughts and practices. Fan studies are a fairly new area and there's
very little on SH fandom out there -- so let's change that!

Thanks,

Gael
