I've been in love with this film since it came out; went to see it several times with a student of mine also in love with the 60s. Tom Hanks turned out four original songs for the Wonders, all of which have the authentic-feeling energy and musicality of the early Beatles.
I remember a television special on the making of it, in which Tom Hanks said that he sent all the band members to "rock 'n roll boot camp" for six weeks before filming to turn them into a real band. I also remember Steve Zahn who played Lenny talking about what a trip the whole thing was, living the fantasy life of rock stars.
So Gael your home town is on Lake Erie? That's not too far from the Wonders' home town of "Erie, PA!"
