Screen writer's guild vote

Feb 12, 2008 16:04

I don't normally have anything to say about the media, but today's announcement about the screen writer's guild caught me off guard. You see, I don't watch the news, sit coms or much of what is shown on television, I don't go to the movies often, so I was unaware the guild was on strike. Why do I have anything to say about this? I have a wish. That wish, no matter how bad it sounds, is for the screen writers to go get some other job somewhere and stop writing altogether. Stop subjecting us to mindless drivel, flagrantly staged "Reality TV" and just plain crappy programming.

Sure, not every show on TV today is bad, some are even mildly interesting, but for the most part, there hasn't been anything really worth watching since Babylon 5 went off the air. Not that I didn't watch a bit of Star Trek, an occasional Seinfeld, perhaps Invisible Man or Star Gate, and for sure I watched some of Farscape. I watched regular programming back then because it was worth seeing (even if it wasn't great).

So, go ahead and stay on Strike you Screen Writers. I don't care about your mindless drivel anyway. Heck, I don't care if half the TV stations show re-runs. Maybe some of those shows I used to watch will eventually show up and I will have something to watch on TV again. I just remembered what "Grandpa" from "Lost Boys" said "No, I just like to read the TV Guide. You read the TV Guide, you don't need a TV."

For now, I'll just keep playing WoW and FFXI, read my web comics and keep my eyes open for another game to play when those two get old.   Maybe I might play a female sorceress on  Warhammer Online when that comes out.
