Last night our friend Patricia (l_word_girl) hung out with us. We grabbed dinner, played some Scene It, and then decided we'd take a ride out to see the new place.
It was around 9 p.m. when Pat and I left and Shawn hit the sack.
I thought it would be cool to take a different route, so punched in the info into Shawn's GPS unit. Pat punched in the same on her Blackberry GPS.
The GPS took us through some back roads, and on this really obscure route. The further we went, the darker it got, and the creepier the roads started to look.
We passed a couple of John Deer Tractors that would hard at work. The only light around them came from a flood light on the tractor.
As we went along, I mentioned that it would be cool if there was a movie about GPS units leading people to their deaths, and we discussed all the scary ideas around that.
Shortly after, the unit advised me to turn right. You can see that illistrated at the top centre of the picture. Once I did, we were on a road overgrown with weeds and that became more and more narrow.
The unit said "In 500 meteres you have reached your destination" but I could see 500 meteres ahead, and this was clearly not our new home.
So, I stopped the car... and started backing up. It seemed as though the road I turned on had disappeared. I was backing up for what seemed like an eternity.
Finally, I found the road, and Pat entered the info into her GPS and it lead us to where we needed to be.
Of course, not after we passed 3 people on horses that weren't moving, just sort of loitering at the end of a driveway.
I looked it up on google this morning, and it turns out if we had of kept going we would have ended up in some sort of Area 51 looking quarry or something!
The best part though, was when I told Pat that the gas light came on when we were in the middle of nowhere.
Man... I'll never forget it!
