“What are you doing here?!” both men exclaimed at once.
“Can I at least come in? Or is there some reason you’re trying to keep me out? Is You a bit ‘indisposed’ at the moment?” Gackt made air quotes with his fingers.
“Well, you could say that,” Chacha replied.
Gackt’s face turned into a storm cloud. He was getting angry because his brain immediately went where it had no reason to.
“Calm down,” Chacha turned away from the door, Gackt following behind. “Calm down. Have a seat,” he motioned to a chair as he sat prettily on the couch, one leg tucked under him. “Now, why are you here?”
Somehow Chacha had developed a way to diffuse Gackt’s wild jumping to conclusions without Gackt ever knowing he was being manipulated, and he was going to have great fun with this- at Gackt’s expense, of course.
“I came to give You a Christmas gift a little early,” Gackt said as if explaining himself for being a naughty child.
“Really? That’s nice. What is it?” Chacha was smiling like a demented clown inside, reveling in the other’s discomfort, but presented Gackt with a delighted smile as he pretended to check the singer over, looking for a gift somewhere on his person.
“Well,” Gackt said, feeling totally discombobulated, “it’s, um, me.”
“Well, a lot of thought went into that,” Chacha murmured under his breath.
“It was a spur of the moment thing,” Gackt said defensively.
“Yes, I’m sure it was. It’s hard to think of Christmas gifts while you’re lounging around the pool in the sun, working on your tan.”
“Hey!”
Chacha held up his hand. “But you’ll have plenty of time to think of something else because You’s not here.”
Gackt stared at Chacha in disbelief. “But, he’s got to be here. It’s Christmas. I’m here…”
“And he’s not. So there you go.” Chacha was thoroughly enjoying himself.
“Where is he, will he be back soon?”
“I don’t know. I came to take him Christmas shopping, and found him running around mumbling something about holidays, and sun and fun, and stuff, then he grabbed his backpack that he uses for a carryon bag,” he emphasized to make sure he had the singer’s attention, “and ran out the door.”
Gackt shot out of his chair and started pacing as he let Chacha's final words sink in. “But, what’d he do that for?!”
“Oh, I don’t know. It was a spur of the moment thing.”
