Character(s): Gackt, Hyde

Summary: The final confrontation between Gackt and Hyde.
Notes: Cause there can never be enough "Gackt and/or Hyde actually ARE vampires" stories. Well, yes there can be...but this is another one anyways.

“Bastard!” I bellowed. “I’ll see you burn for this!”

Unphased, he smiled. “So? What did you think?” he asked. “How was he? Me, I thought he tasted like...like wine and strawberries.” He wiped the corner of his mouth with his ring finger.

I jumped the distance between us and had him against the wall before he’d even finished the gesture, my arm pressed against his throat.

"Why, Hyde? Why?" I demanded. "Why did it have to come to this?"

"We both knew it would come to this someday," he said, face so close it was like I could feel his eyes burning into mine.

"I'll kill you for this," I said quietly. "This ends here."

“You can’t kill me!” he laughed. “We can’t die!”

“There are ways to kill even a demon,” I hissed between my teeth.

His hand flew up and slashed across my face. I felt gashes open in my cheek and, surprised for a moment, I loosened my hold just enough for him to slip sideways and out of my grip. He kicked the side of my knee and I stumbled in pain. He started to laugh but was cut short when I flew at him and slammed him into the wall. I grabbed his shirt and lifted him off the ground, throwing him across the room and into a chair, sending it crashing backwards to the floor. He stumbled to his feet, grabbing a lamp off of the end table and throwing it at me. I easily ducked out of the way and the lamp shattered against the wall behind me. I laughed wickedly. “Who’s pathetic now?!”

He made to run but I was on him too quickly. I grabbed him by the throat and dragged him across the room, slamming him into the grand piano. “You kill me because I had the balls to do what you couldn’t?” he rasped. “Because I had the balls to embrace what we are? We’re vampires.”

“Monsters.” I tightened my fingers around his neck.

“So what if we are monsters? We’re made to kill, not to love.”

“I loved him.”

“And how many lovers have you killed?” he snarled. “How many humans have you left heartbroken? You kill me because I show you the truth?”

“No.” I reached behind him and ripped the lid prop from the piano, sending the top crashing down with a deafening bang. “I kill you because you’ll never know the truth.” I stabbed the prop into his chest. His eyes widened in shock and he staggered sideways, falling to his knees on the floor, blood gushing from his mouth. He fell to the side and was still.

I stood for a moment. It wasn’t right.

I had expected killing him to feel right.

I had expected to feel closure or a sense of finality knowing he had paid for what he had done.

But instead, all I felt was pain. Terrible pain in a heart that didn’t even work.

You was gone.
