Plot outline: After their fiery parting of ways, Kurosaki You thought he would never see his childhood sweetheart Satoru again. But when the now up and coming vocalist Satoru's, marriage falls apart, he seeks out You's support once again and little by little, begins to pull You back into his life. So, when Satoru splits from his band and prepares to launch a solo career, its You and their mutual childhood friend Ren, that he calls upon to come to Tokyo and play with him, promising that he wants nothing more for them to be friends again and despite his many misgivings, You and Ren both accept.
But after arriving in Tokyo, it doesn't take long for You to realize that in the flesh, the man, now named Gackt, is a seemingly separate entity from his one time lover and best friend. The once vibrant and outgoing young man has been replaced by an emotionally distant and secretive stranger, who deflects interest from his bizarre behavior with outlandish stories.
With Ren at his side, You tries to uncover the secrets of the stranger they have been confronted with, in hopes of unearthing and saving the person he once knew and loved, as well as the new one he is coming to care for. But his search threatens to take him down a path with Satoru that he promised himself he would never walk again.
