Ye Olde Blogger Blogs (^^;)

Jul 05, 2007 19:42

Yes, I'm still re-reading my old stuff. Is this my subconcious's way of telling me that I may die soon? *knock on wood* Heheheh. I don't know why I suddenly got this urge to read my older entries.

Anyway, today I checked my old Blogger account.

Apparently, I had forgotten about my personal blog that was active for a year (2001-2002). The only Jrock post that I had there was about L'arc~en~ciel, although I didn't post about them much except for the occasional online test result. Most of my entries were about the Crazy Town, Linkin Park, Staind, anime that I watched (Sailor Moon Sailor Stars, WTF!!, Slam Dunk, Cardcaptor Sakura, FY, MKR)and personal life stuff.

I had another blog, which was a group blog that I shared with my classmates. Roch (kasu_chin69) and I were the most active posters then. We mostly talked about X, Slam Dunk, L'arc~en~ciel, and eventually Gackt.

Anyways, some amusing entries here and there.^_^ Memories.

These aren't the actual titles, I didn't use titles back then.^^

My favorite Laruku song
* My favorite L'arc~en~Ciel song at that time was "Finale". And I already had a habit of posting translations in my blog.

I miss the old Studio 23.
* December 2001 - Seems that I enjoyed watching Studio23 late at night. The first time I saw L'arc~en~ciel on TV was on Myxtreme (Dec 2001).xD And I even watched a documentary on Genesis, the 70's Glam rock band whose former members consisted of Phil Collins and Peter Gabriel.^^ I miss the old Myx now.

Slam Dunk yaoiness!!!
* I didn't realize that I was THAT obsessed about Slam Dunk and X back in college.xDDDDDDD And it seems that aside from SenRu, my other favorite pairing was MitAYA (omgHET!!! And so not canon!!). And kasu_chin69 liked MitRyo, but I didn't like them so I kept on teasing her that actually she likes 7x4 (RyoAkagi)!!!xD

And aside from the old SenRu ML that I joined, I got my fix of Slam Dunk fanfics from the Slam Dunk Babble Club.xD

X yaoiness!
* X, my fave pairing was SeishirouxFuuma. I also liked Fuuma and Arashi, after Arashi had switched sides (omg, non-canon again).

On Sailor Moon and dubbing
* I hated that ABC5 dubbed "Three Lights" as "Tatlong Liwanag" in one episode of SMSS. It's a proper name, so it could've been used as is. They were back to "Three Lights" by the next episode.

Just a comment: I also hated that Mamoru got kidnapped over and over again.x_x There was no "Nehelenia" arc in the manga. That should be one less Mamoru kidnapping incident!

Paolo Montalban
* I had a thing for Paolo Montalban. And yes, I watched American Adobo.

If you don't know who he is, you were probably too young, didn't read the papers, or didn't pay attention to local showbiz news.:P

Windows XP
* I was so amazed with the Windows XP interface. All rounded corners, and stuff.

* I named my first PC "Chingkit" (R.I.P. 1999-2004) after upgrading to Windows XP.

Queen of the Damned
* I had a thing for Stuart Townsend. Although he still didn't fit my ideal Lestat, I liked him better than Tom Cruise.

* I totally loved the Queen of the Damned OST, especially "System" with Chester Bennington on vocals, and Deftones' "Change".

Streamload
* We shared songs mostly via Streamload.xD I remember some time last year, I opened my Streamload account and all my files were still there!xD

On Megumi
* I must have been one of the few L'arc fans who didn't hate Megumi (Hyde's wife).

I For You and "Kuya" Takeshi
* Apparently, one of my first Jrock songs (after I decided to listen to other stuff besides L'arc~en~ciel) was Luna Sea's "I for You". I first heard it on some Chinese Channel that aired "Kamisama Mou Sukoshi Dake" back in high school. I remember seeing Takeshi Kaneshiro and screaming "OMG, si Kuya (older brother)!!!". We're obviously not related, I didn't even know his name back then. I was referring to his role in the "Little Shaolin" movies that my siblings and I used to watch when we were younger.^^ I don't remember how I came across the song again in 2002, but I did, and fell in love with it.

* Another band that I "tried" was GLAY. I never warmed up to their stuff. The only song that I liked back then was.. "Kanojo", a piano and violin instrumental.

My Super Crushes
* My super crushes at that time were Hyde, Makoto from Lucifer, and Hideaki Ito.xD I even made a fansite of sorts for them, which also included Asian females that I found pretty then (Vivian Hsu, Ming Na Wen, China Chow, Zhang Ziyi).

My First Gackt Songs
* I downloaded my first Gackt songs on April 7, 2002. Sadly, I didn't say which songs I was getting. This was also the first time that I watched the video of Hyde singing "Careless Whisper". I was so freaking amused by his Engrish.^^

Free PLDT Vibe
* I was so happy when PLDT first launched Vibe, their dialup internet service. The service was free for a month.xD

Yes, I hated GMA's dubbing even then
* I already hated GMA's dubbing back then. I wasn't amused with the name changes in FY (Remember "Kuya Jerry", "Kenny", and "Julie"?), and I was pissed that they were dubbing Slam Dunk (which I ended up watching anyway, me being the addict that I was then).

"Mas tatanggapin ko pa na ABC5, dahil nung pnalabas nila dati ang slamdunk, balita ko eh kaboses halos nung sa jap. eh ang gma. pili ka between boses ipis, boses middleaged o boses nagbibinata."

Gackt birthday post
* I posted my very first "Gackt birthday post" in 2002. I made a card for the occasion, but it's gone now 'cos the server's dead.^_~

My first Jrock "cds"
* August 26, 2002 - But they were pirated cds.x_x CD-R copies. An online friend from Malaysia sent me copies of Gackt's Moon, Hyde's Roentgen and Roentgen English. There was no cover for the Roentgen CD so she drew me a Chibi Hyde.^^

In the same post, I also mentioned wanting to meet the GMA talent who voices Sendoh. LOL. I sort of crushed on him because he had such a nice Sendoh voice.^^;; And here I thought I hated GMA's dubbing.

On "Doomsday"
This song is very interesting for two main reasons. First, the musical themes of the song bounce back and forth between very soft, light, and innocent, and extremely dark and threatening. The other very interesting thing is that the use of language in this song (anata, watashi, kare, sentences ending in wa) suggest that it's sung from a woman's point of view.

* That was the translator's notes for a translation of "Doomsday", which was my favorite Gackt song then. I was pretty much in awe of Gackt's unique songwriting style then.

Our first trip to Anima Anime
* September 17, 2002 - I bought my L'arc~en~ciel vs Tomarunner PS cd from there! Roch and I were both shocked by the prices of the other Jrock items they sold.x_x 350 bucks for a Makoto keychain, whaaaaaaaa!!!!

My first Gackt video and my first 2 Jrock CDs
* September 21, 2002 - I received my first Gackt Live VHS (the WOWOW Broadcast of Mars Live 2000), ordered from a seller whose name I can't remember. I also bought my first original Jrock CDs - L'arc~en~ciel's Ray and Heavenly. They were the overseas version ones sold at Tower Records, but I didn't mind.:)

My first Ebay purchase
* October 14,2002 - I bought the following *bootleg* Gackt videos from a seller in Canada (although the items were in HK):
- Gackt Ayumi Hamasaki 2002 Countdown (2vcds)
- Gackt Africa Tv Special
- Gackt Music Show vol 2
- Gackt Music Show vol 5
- Gackt Hero's Hero VCD

I still have them! Well, most of them anyway. And yes, I knew they were bootleg before I bought them.

I started my own public blog in Tabulas in December 2003, I don't remember writing down what happened in the months in-between that and my last entry at the olg group blog.

Whaa~! Nakakatuwa. Sobrang memories talaga.:)
