The Girl (Vignette)

Sex without love is an empty experience, but as empty experiences go it's one of the best. ~Woody Allen

IC Date: Toward the end of month 6, turn 21

Gabe's finally gotten some, but he doesn't feel good about it. So he goes looking for solace in a surprising place.

Gabe felt slimy. He knew there was nothing wrong with two guys together, knew he'd been born for it, in fact, but somehow that didn't help. In the end he wound up turning to the girl who'd thrown herself at him at Turnover.

Her name was Jess, and she was petite, blonde, and curvy. Way too big a rack for him to just pretend it wasn't there. Not too bright, either - after all, she'd been after Gabe for months, even after he got Gevran to tell her to her face that he wasn't into girls. "But he's so cuuuuute," she had cooed. Gevran had had a blast imitating her voice, over and over, to gales of laughter from Gabe and their friends.

But now, as she had long predicted, Gabrion was coming around. Or something. He slipped her a note at dinner, asking if she wanted to take a walk by the lake afterward. Put up with the minimum of conversation, of flirting, before he finally led her to the spot he knew about within the tunnels of the weyr: an empty and unused storage closet, nothing inside but some shelves and a stool.

Her lips were so soft, and she smelled and tasted like a girl, all flowers and honey and sticky sweetness. That made it difficult. There was a moment of panic when he thought he wouldn't be able to pull it off, but it turned out the key was closing his eyes while he kissed her. That gave him the freedom to run through his library of stored up mental images of the weyr's male greenriders, shirtless and sometimes pantsless. A few bronzeriders mixed in for good measure. That did the trick, and he was able to... complete the transaction.

Just as he had hoped, he felt better afterward. Cleaner, somehow; more normal. A tiny bit of guilt flared when she started talking about how they ought to eat dinner together, spend time together; but he suppressed it ruthlessly. After all, he'd just given her what she had been begging for, for months. Gabe kissed her and told her he had to work late for the next seven (a white lie) but that he'd let her know when he was free.

Exhaustion bowed his shoulders as he headed back to his room. It was early, still, but he was so tired. It wasn't at all like messing around with a guy - that keyed him up, filled him with boundless energy, so that no matter how late he was out, he'd go back to his room and crawl into his bed for a few more rounds, solo, as many as he could fit in before falling asleep. Tonight, he'd probably skip it and just sleep. But he sure did feel better.
