Oh, Life on Mars ♥ I'm so glad lysachan recommended this series to me. LoM has everything I love about television series crammed into one yummy package: police officers, nostalgia for the past, witty dialogue, realistic characters and, of course, slash up the wazoo.
This is Sam Tyler. He's a cop from the 21st century who gets hit by a car and wakes up in the year 1973. He's not at all sure if he's crazy, in a coma or actually back in time. He's kind of cute, too.
That other guy is Gene Hunt. He's the DIC of Sam's [new] precinct and a completely misogynistic, agressive and foulmouthed son of a bitch to boot. I love him ♥
Right after they meet, Gene and Sam have hawt buttsecks come to blows over which one of them is the alpha male. Mrrrow.
Aaaaand right from the start, they share only one bubble of personal space.
They really, really like touching each other.
They do some policework, too.
And jump off desks.
They catch crooks [and engage in some recreational eyefucking while they're at it]
Gene really, really likes being close to Sam.
The guys fight every once in a while...
...but they always make up and return to being buddies.
When Gene rescues Sam from a tight spot, Sam doesn't have to say anything.
He just has to smile...
...and Gene smiles back ♥
When Sam's in a scary situation, the only one he calls out to is Gene. [no, really.]
They even eyefuck when there are other people in the room.
They just completely forget they're not alone.
Sam loves looking at Gene's lips.
Gene likes returning the favor.
When they go clubbing, they of course have to lean really, really close to make sure the other hears what they're saying. Sam uses this opportunity to grope Gene in public.
Mmm, just a little closer, Gene.
Holding Sam's hand works, too.
Naturally, they have their small moments of angst.
Ahdkfhk! Sam ;3;
Sometimes Gene likes to barge into Sam's apartment in the middle of the night. Sam's adorably sleepy ♥
The guys fight again.
And then they go undercover in a bar.
Gene and Sam make beautiful music together are busy trying to catch a killer.
Manhandling is Gene's way of showing his love appreciation for Sam, so Gene really, really loves to push Sam against walls.
But that's okay. Sam loves it too.
Sometimes Gene gets really, really drunk.
Fortunately, Sam finds even that part of Gene adorable.
The guys get cuffed together in one episode.
And when Gene gets shot...
...Sam goes nuts.
But when Gene goes all "I'm totally not dead, LOL!"...
...Sam's tearful relief is obvious.
Sam and Gene really love smiling at each other.
Sam especially.
They go out to dinner together.
And whenever they can, they share...
...meaningful glances.
There's even a betrayal.
And Gene's puppydog eyes.
But everything's just fine and dandy in the end, and the guys head off to the pub.
Even the actors lack personal space ♥

Seriously, though, I really like Life on Mars because it's different and incredibly well done. I laughed, I cried, I was freaked out, and now I just want more. John Simms [Sam Tyler] is amazing at his role. There's this one scene where he goes from happy to shocked to sad without ever saying a word. It's all in his eyes. Superb stuff, really. Season two starts in January! *luffles*
