The worst thing about living in the South is that there's no one to vote for at the state level. The Democrats down here are as bad as the Republicans (worse, in some ways). Zell Miller, the Democratic former Governor and Senator from Georgia who is still extremely popular here, made his bones defending segregation, co-sponsored the Federal Marriage Amendment, and was the keynote speaker at the 2004 Republican Convention!

The DNC refuses to demand any accountability or consistency from the Southern wing of the party, and that isn't likely to change, so I'd recommend supporting organizations like the ACLU or NOW rather than wasting time with the Dems.

Ech. You have a point. Contacting other organizations surely wouldn't go amiss. We just need someone paying attention to it because right now, the amendment has all the backing. :/
