'Fess Up

Ohmigosh! I'd forgotten that Crusader is the lesbianest Xena episode EVER. And...well, that's saying a lot.

You know, I have lots of thoughts about fanfics bouncing around in my head lately. There's a post in the making. Just need to mull some more things over. While I'm doing so, though, just a little poll. :)

Poll

poll, btvs, about fanfics

Stay - Anaross it's the biggest tearjerker I've ever read.

Oh, that fic kills me! I love Anaross!

I cry every time I reread one of Anaross' fics. I tell myself I cry of frustration that it wasn't her who was writing the show... :)

Hee! How awesome would that have been?

Unspoken is my go-to happy fic, but I love loads of hers.

Really moving fiction often makes me cry. Movies, books, TV shows, sometimes songs or pieces of music. I'm a crier. And fanfiction's the same. I am unashamed.

I cry really easily at TV or music. Fanfiction....not so much. Usually, it has to be a long fic that I'm really invested in before I'll get all teared up. I guess it's the different format. I'm really attached to seeing the actors do their thing.

I feel like I was crying over books long before I was crying over movies. On the other hand, movies have the advantage of A) heart-tugging music and B) someone else's face crumpling with devestation or loss or something. Those two tag-teaming are pretty emotionally manipulative.

Although I tend to cry more over something that's really good--something self-sacrificial for instance--than something that's sad.

I think the music is a big factor for me. I'm a very auditory person, so music and sounds and voices have a huge effect on me. Much more than words on paper. Hell, this is probably why I'm not interested in reading the S8 comics. Comics just don't do it for me.

Huh. Interesting. I'm trying to remember what fics I've cried during and why. I think in those cases, I was just overpowered by the general angst, which can happen on occasion. :)

No, but I try to avoid darkish fics, generally speaking.

Ah, but you could cry from laughing too hard. The poll doesn't specify. ;)

Oh, I don't know. In Season Six, the Rheingold trilogy could give "Crusader" a run for its money.

True point. But all of S6 is pretty much where the writers went "Fuck it" to the whole subtext thing and just outed Xena and Gabrielle. *happy sigh*

Yuppers! "You Are There" still cracks me up, especially that ending!

You Are There is just all-around made of WIN. Hee. Michael Hurst. Eve cussing out the camera crew. Xena and Gabrielle elbowing each other about the "lovers" question. Wow, I've watched that one way too many times.
