Because I'm allowed to get sentimental at least once a year.
I do celebrate Christmas, though not in a religious "Yay Jesus!" way. I kinda do the whole good will and hippie love thing, though. Actually, kinda like what I'm supposed to do on Thanksgiving, but I have issues with that holiday (erm...I'M JUST LIKE WILLOW, GUYS!!!).
So let me unleash a bit of my Christmas spirit on you guys here.
Cause I am immensely thankful for fandom and the much mirth and joy that it has given me. I'm thankful for the awesome, awesome friends that I've made through LJ fandom (you know who you are!). I'm thankful for the fantastically intelligent people who contribute to discussions throughout fandom. I'm thankful also for the lurkers because I often feel as if lurkers are the invisible foundation of any internet community. Oft forgotten and ignored, yet still essential for keeping the whole thing afloat.
I'll admit as my journal has gotten more widely read, I've run into more fandom frustration than I used to. And I had a few moments where I was ready to throw in the towel for various reasons. But fandom is what you make of it, and I've tried to make my fandom experience as fun and insightful and squee-worthy as possible. Despite the bumps, I think I've been successful.
And I have you all to thank. Yep. Each and every one of you. The reliable regular commenters and the other meta-writers and the fabulous fic authors and the sporadic feedbackers and the silent lurkers and even the people that disagree with everything I've ever said.
So have a fantastic holiday. If you aren't celebrating any holidays right now, then I hope, as always, that you have a fantastic end-of-the-week.
Namaste.
