Wow...what a fascinating train-wreck..the story! Not your writing, which is brilliant so far! (My foot has been in my mouth a lot lately...)

I love alternate outcomes, and this is one that I had had on my mind lately, so I can't wait to see what you come up with. I can't imagine how the Scoobies will manage to defeat Glory again (and it doesn't seem from the chapter titles that they'll lose, at least not for some values of the word), so I am in eager anticipation.

And you know, I'd completely lost track of the timing of S6 re: 9/11.

I winced when I was doing research for the news report and realized that I'd had Glory bringing down a plane during an episode that had aired in early November 2001.

Hmm. I suppose in theory one could use that to make legitimate philosophical points. Would be very risky though.

It would certainly be interesting. But I'll leave that to someone else to explore. :) I'd prefer to keep Buffy separate from "real world" events such as that. The news reports on Buffy always seem an interesting way to view the Buffyverse from the "outside perspective" (Sunnydale having an outbreak of laryngitis in Hush? That's just funny). That's why I felt it necessary to make the reference, though I'm not planning on going any further with it.

this fic is just amazing, hon, i'm loving it so far :) love the little changes you're making in how it all came about in canon... love how, just like when she was crying over her mom being sick, spike went from angry and wanting to knock the crap out of her to holding her in about two seconds flat when he saw the tears :) awwwwwww... can't wait to see what happens next, hon :) *Hugs*

Thanks. :) I originally wrote Spike as being way too nice in the final scene (Cause I'm a big softy when it comes to Spike). I'd forgotten how pissed he was at Buffy then. So that scene got completely rewritten, pretty much.

I'm in love with your fic So far, the best idea is to root the story firmly in post 9/11 landscape thus providing it with a metaphorical level. Second, I love the mystery - the reason behind Glory's sudden "power she hadn't had in years". What's up with the woman she consumed? No, don't tell me! :)))

I have a small question. I want to rec your story on a forum that has separate genfic thread and Spuffy thread. Where this story fits better? (I'm not asking for spoilers, I only want to find an appropriate place for recommendation.)

I wish I could take credit for the 9/11 timing, but that was completely unintentional. However, I'm happy to see that it does actually add something to the story. :)

This would probably fit best under genfic. It will have some Spuffy moments because they were a canon couple in S6. It'll also have plenty of X/A and W/T moments. The romances aren't the primary focus of the fic, though. Thank you for the rec (and I hope the rest of the chapters will be just as good).

This is a great alternative idea - I often thought Buffy should have killed Glory/Ben to really protect the world.

She should have. But I don't think she could have in the series. This fic is the Worst Case Scenario. :)
