Leave kissing to the professionals

So I have finally hit the Spuffy in my rewatch. Which, yay! And I've always maintained that the Out of My Mind kiss is just damned hot. It usually leaves me in a haze of fangirlish glee to the point where I forget the entire rest of the episode. But on this rewatch, I kinda noticed what I've heard some other people say...wow, that kiss was kinda ( Read more... )

s5 pwnz you, btvs, fangirl, spuffy

I think it's hot AND awkward. Buffy's freaked out for half of it, and for the other half, Spike's trying to move down to her neck.

Spike's trying to move down to her neck.

*g* Isn't that just like a vampire? Have a little kiss and they start making a beeline for the neck.

Passion isn't always perfect. It's the fumbling that shows the desperation to me, and that just makes it even steamier! :)

Passion isn't always perfect.

Precisely. I think that's what I love about the season 6 kisses. They all have these varying, conflicting emotions behind them, and you can SEE it. AYW kisses are completely different from Wrecked kisses, which are completely different from the Tabula Rasa kiss, etc. I think it works so well for their story that all their most photogenic and perfect kisses are when they're under a spell in Something Blue or when Buffy's a robot in Intervention. When they're both THERE and dealing with each other, you can see the mess of emotions they're dealing with.

Exactly! I don't know about you, but when you're unable to control your lust with another person, the last thing you care about is if your teeth scrape or if you miss their lips amid your frantic crawling up their body to get MORE MORE MORE.

These types of kisses are the very crust of inspiration for fan fic. Without that kind of passion, none of us would really give a damn.

Yeah, like she says! Since when are hot and awkward mutually exclusive? Just check out any iteration of Darcy (who, as you know, I think has certain things in common with Spike).

Well, technically this comes before the OMWF kiss, so it's not chronologically an "improvement"...

But I love the OMWF kiss! It's just so wild and passionate and, wow, yeah, they're both just all in it! I prefer it to the Tabula Rasa kiss.

I think a not small part of the problem is that SMG has a really strange kissing face.

She does, doesn't she? She does this odd squinty furrowy eyebrow thing. Like it's taking undue effort for her to kiss. Hadn't thought of that.

It takes hard concentration, mebbe? She's probably solving math problems or going over lines in her head while she's at it so she can look all properly tortured.

Aw, I love SMG's kissing face! Although that cap right there is kinda funny. She's just really focusing, okay! *pets SMG's kissey face*

I think there is a bit of funbling but I see that as being passionate, you know, when you're just so crazy to be with the other that you get awkward and too eager. I think that awkwardness brings a more realistic touch and it's better that something too coreographed.

So I went with answer number 3! ;D

I think number 3 is clearly the correct answer on this one. :)
