I'm really having a hard time keeping daily posts this month. Last night, some former neighbors who moved to Virginia Beach last summer came back up for the Elementary Rock and Roll Show. Their youngest daughter and ConTessa were best friends. We didn't see everyone last night, but some of the moms met for a girl's night out (I had two margaritas, hence the lack of post last night). Today one of the moms hosted a lunch/playdate for the children before the local girls had to get ready for their show tonight.
ConTessa did a great job in the show. She smiled and did all her choreography well. She was disappointed in the beginning not to have been assigned a solo - and I told her to ask the music teacher why. After consulting her notes from the audition, the music teacher told her that she started out off pitch, but the notes do say she rallied before the end.
My problem with that, is that a lot of the kids chosen for solos never found their pitch in the songs they sang.
I'm not making any waves about it, because ConTessa needs to have a few setbacks in her charmed little life. However, if the same thing happens next year, after she performed so well this year and was a reliable little trooper, I will be disappointed. Not that I will make a stink about it, because I want her to enjoy her time - but it will certainly make leaving the school at the end of next year easier.
