Dude, do you know what 'wrong number' means?
On my cell phone this afternoon:
Me: Hello?
Man: I'm trying to reach John Doe (*Name changed)
Me: You have the wrong number.
Man: Do you know how I can reach him?
Me: I've never heard of him. This is my phone and you have the wrong number.
Seriously?
And I didn't even characterize his aggressive tone of voice.
I had a call similar to this on my regular phone when I lived in Virginia. It was at like 2:00am and when I said it wasn't the right number, the guy on the other line got this knowing tone in his voice, "but you know him, don't you?" As in, he's lying in bed next to you right now, isn't he?
So...what do you say when somebody tells you that you've dialed the wrong number?
