Domicile: Under Reconstruction Part 1

Ralph Balmont walked out of a pharmacy located in a strip mall in downtown Mumsville carrying a soda. As he sat on a derelict fountain, now dry and long gone into disuse, he focused his attention on the sun he could feel, as a way to cope with the discomfort his trip had- in every other way- provided. It was too much to take in so suddenly- and so soon after getting released- and his mind had basically shut down as a way to cope with the burden.

As he choked back a swig of soda, Ralph felt like he'd been outright lied to. Was it not enough to rot in jail? Wasn't probation just a huge waste of money and time? What was the point?

It is all a lie.

Ralph smirked when his mind formed those words, for they felt perfectly accurate and true. Five years probation seemed unnecessarily long and unfair. Death would have been preferable...
