Journey v2.0

Life is a journey, and we all share in the search for meaning. As we grow into adulthood, we become more conscious of the challenges we face. Uncertainty is one such challenge, a challenge I have found to grow in magnitude (and perhaps out of proportion) as my life comes to a head ( Read more... )

"why" hasn't got me anywhere so far. If you think you know why before you start, your sight is probably too narrow to put faith in. "why not" at least has the worst-case benefit of giving you an answer. If you fear surviving on your own, that might be a sign you should do that so your choices won't come down to fear in the future. But that doesn't mean you have to jump at the first opportunity to go solo.

As for the industry: I never got the impression you weren't enjoying yourself, for all the stress you seemed to incur. (did you really feel over your head? will experience and determination make the difference next time?) I've got pretty jaded about IZ too, but from initially just falling into the industry I've somehow ended up deciding (quite against my nature) to continue braving its uncertainties in order to keep working with the kinds of people I've had the fortune to meet there. So you need to decide whether you've really lost your love for the industry as a whole, or whether the specifics of whatever the hell opportunity you're talking about sound like they would be fun, challenging, broadening.

This is Greg BTW, Feral is a WA micro-brewery but I hope you know that!

Hey Greg! Haven't heard much from you so it was a pleasant surprise to see you post. Thankyou for your tempered response.

As for the role at IZ, while I did feel hard done by, I know that I tend to overreact, and that the onus was upon me to make the best of a bad situation. But you're right - working with you guys rocked and was definitely one of the most worthwhile experiences of the industry.

Oh, I haven't heard of Feral at all! But I did go to a brewery on a wine tour... Ellen, was that Feral?
