OMG this is brilliant. So brilliant I'm struggling for the words.
I kept waiting for something awful to happen and burst the bubble but I was so relieved when it was pure hedonism all the way with a side of awww!!! Talk about feel good. I feel fantastic after reading this!
This reads like distilled essence of boy, and such tenderness for that peculiar relationship we have with cars, which are so much more than mere machines. They wind about our memories and define so many rites of passage. They ARE a rite of passage. Is there anything more emotive than a first car? And the times when a car represented nothing but fun and freedom?
You do teen-rebel Zeke so well and here it's like the ultimate in Zekeness. His reaction to the recreated car is just gold. I didn't know they were 'goats', hehe. Cruising with the stereo blaring, the hot hot HOT suck (I was afraid Zeke would have forgotten to park and shot across the yard at 70 mph into the bushes), and oh, the sweet, sweet goodbye from dear, wonderful Casey who KNOWS the car loved them back. *sniff!*
Loved it all. Glorious new horizons and they're heading there in slamming style. Oh, god, please, more, now!!!
*puts on the shades and revs off with the music LOUD*
I just couldn't bear the thought of Zeke not getting his beloved GTO back. If I'm going with the feel good factor then dammit, I'm going all the way.
LOL at the bushes comment. I was contemplating adding Zeke offering to return the favour and Casey being afraid of reversing top speed into the street.
I think there'll be mention of the favour in the next part...
