I opted out of my annual re-watch of Escaflowne and decided to go for something different. Mostly because I made the foolish mistake of watching Whispers of the Heart and Only Yesterday in one sitting without having Freakazoid or that Egg Baby episode of Batman of the Future on standby. In short, nostalgia + kinda bla YOUTH!! ;_; feeling = No Escaflowne for a few years now. XD
I've only managed to watch the first two episodes of Coffee Prince, cos I can't watch it on my TV (the subtitles always cut off on the DVD player) and my eyes go funny if I stare at the comptuer for too long. And with Gong Yoo on the screen, I will stare a little too hard. XD I definitely needed to re-watch it though, as I'm more familiar with hearing the Korean language. I didn't get what Ahjussi meant until about the 3rd episode last time round as CP was only my second K-Drama, so I was a little confused as to why everyone was called that. The cast in this was definitely something. All of them were so into their characters, you'd think they were playing themselves! As much as I loved You're Beautiful, Jang Geun Suk and Lee Hong Ki stuck out as the most natural actors. UEE was pretty good considering it was her first drama! I'll probably flail more once I watch the rest of the episodes. *is eagerly awaiting Waffle Dude*
I was originally going to do a Justice League or Teen Titans re-watch, but there's a new DC cartoon starting soon and I think I'll enjoy it more if I don't have something fresh in my mind to compare it to. So I watched Avatar instead. I'm just in the middle of season 3 now, the episode before the eclipse invasion. Man. This show is better than I remembered! I've only seen most of the episodes once through, as I was behind everyone else (as usual) and had caught up with the series just as season 2 had ended. I think I had missed a lot of the stuff before, or just didn't take it in cos at one point I was watching 3 episodes a day. The two characters I noticed a lot more this time round were Appa and Momo, they're so cute! Usually animals are just background characters, so to see those two interact and do stuff when the shot is not focusing on them, it's a lot of fun to watch. Sokka and Iroh are still my favourites, Toph is still awesome but I liked Aang and Katara a lot more this time round. I was about 1% less mad at Zuko too, lol. I was considering doing a picspam post about Sokka's best moments but I think that would be most of his appearances in the show. XD I really liked how he matured as a character, but did not become the annoying dumb character that most comic relief characters become in TV shows. (See Eric Matthews in Boy Meets World or Cosmo on Fairly Odd Parents)
One thing that made me glad about catching up with this show late was I was unaware of any of the fandom stuff, like all the shipping wars or that apparently people weren't too fond of the last season or how the show ended? I did not know of any of this! Or that people were shipping Zuko and Katara so much. I knew people were, but not on that level! I only became aware of this when they announced the new mini series.
Anyhoo, awesome show is still awesome the second time round. :D And as juvenile as it may be, the line "No Fire Lord Ozai. You're not wearing pants." will always get me laughing.
Merlin's on soon!! :D Gotta fight for the TV though.
