Culinary Ecstasy

Last night we splurged.

It's about time. After several weeks of hesitantly peeking out from our secluded neighborhood in Jorbagh, we decided to go out and eat ourselves stupid. We chose to dine at Kumgang, a Korean restaurant at the Ashok Hotel. I'd never experienced Korean food before, but I figured it was time to stretch my palette.

After piling into Ryan's personal autorickshaw (read his journal for the story of how they met), we pulled up to this gorgeous hotel not far from Jorbagh. I had to admit: a Western-looking, fancy-shmancy hotel was a welcome sight. But after making our way through the immaculate lobby, we found the restaurant to be completely empty -- not a good sign on a Friday night. Still, we were starving, so we took the plunge.

And what a plunge it was: a seven-course meal topped off with Indian wine. Blissful.

For the first time, home didn't seem so far away.
