"I am a Modern Day Slave"
Perception: I don't know this guy, maybe he's unemployed and living with 3 people in an apt in the tenderloin, but when I see a middle aged GWM shouting "I am a modern day slave!" My initial perception is this is a man who prolly owns a nice home in San Francisco, never had his BMW pulled over and searched by police for no reason, never been turned down from a job because he spoke with an accent or his name was too ethnic, never had to be reminded by other people every day what race you are and now all of a sudden he's a slave.
I'm glad that reaction to Prop 8 has ignited a historic call to action for Gay Rights, but comments like this do not endear nonwhite people (including the gay ones) to the cause.
