I'm seriously in love the way these two lines frame each other and bring the complicity of the court to light:

(Hi. Total stranger here. Coronation? Best, scariest story I've read in ages. Absolutely aces. Heartbreaking and perfectly full of perfect horror. What's that Graham Greene line about the appalling strangeness of the mercy of God? Frigg, man, is she ever merciful.
