So the trailer for Brave came out. And for those who don't know what it is, Brave is Pixar's next movie. It concerns the Scottish princess Merida and some magic Scottish things but who cares! Point being, this character IS A WOMAN.

KLD;KASJFKL; SHEEZA WOMAAAN and the first primary Pixar character to be such. Since I read about this movie on Wikipedia (way back when it was a mere stub), I was enthralled by this. And now a trailer! Such foliage! Such grace on a horse! SUCH AMAZING HAIR!!! IT'S SO GORGEOUS AND RED I LOVE HER HAIR SO MUCH augh.
Now, this afternoon, I thought about this trailer. Very hard. It offers very little, but it gets this huge response from me. Am I investing myself so deeply into this movie because it's Pixar? Maybe. Am I investing myself so deeply into this movie because I'm a woman? YES.
I am so concerned with the well-being of this movie because it will say so much about women in film. If it fails, there will be some sexist a-holes who WILL blame it on a female lead.
I mean look at Megan Fox. Her work in the Transformers films earns so much, but her top-billing in Jennifer's Body made so little. And not everyone is going to blame it on the quality of either of those movies, for I guarantee that someone is saying out there that Megan Fox can only make money if she plays second banana to big Mr. Shia LaBeouf.
If Brave succeeds, then it will do a huge thing for the portrayal of women in the film industry. We won't need to reason that we can only make money if we get fricken Rosie Huntington-Whitely to play that girl who runs around in the desert in white pants and needs to be rescued all the dang time by giant male (or asexual? Are Transformers boys? How do we know this?) alien robot toy car thing from the 80s.
If you look at the comments on the trailer, you'll see things like "I was interested until the hood came off" or something like that. idgi really is it because she's ginger? And the only reason why I am eliminating that the commenter is referring to her gender is because I believe that people can't be like that anymore. We are much too civilized to be putting down people for mere gender. And anyway, what is it about people not liking gingers? I LOVE GINGER HAIR. There's just something so brilliant about that color. Not to mention that obviously, as a Scottish princess, she would have red hair.
So anyway, I really hope this movie is good. I've invested too much already and will not stand for the disrespect of women! LET'S GO PERIODS!
Also an observation: By the time this movie will be out, we will no longer be in AC. Ohhhh my womanhood is raging today.
