Writing4aCause: A Plea to Fandom!

writing4acause is a fanfiction community established to raise money in the fight against breast cancer, donated directly to the Susan G. Komen foundation to sponsor ovariesofsteel in her mission to complete the Susan G. Komen 3-Day Walk for the Cure in Boston, July 2011.
Founded in 1982, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. The organization has invested more than $1.5 billion to fulfill its promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
The walk is broken down into approximately 20 miles per day, for which ovariesofsteel began training in August, 2010. Men and women from all over the globe unite for 72 hours and sleep, eat, and walk together to raise awareness while loved ones, survivors, and those struggling to beat breast cancer cheer them on every step of the way. Before a participant can walk, however, there's $2,300 to raise. Some of you have already heard ovariesofsteel 's new mantra of 60 Miles! 3 Days! $2,300 to raise!
Last year, nursebadass formed fandom4thecure . This year, inspired by her efforts and success, writing4acause seeks to draw new members of fandom together to make the Boston walk a reality.
How can you participate?
--Authors willing to donate fics please sign up HERE with the fandoms you will write for and any special offers you will offer (i.e. donation amounts required for a specific word count) NOTE: I HAVE PLENTY OF AUTHORS AND AM NOT ASHAMED TO TELL YOU I'M LOOKING FOR PIMPAGE OF THE COMM TO ATTRACT MORE DONATORS.
--Readers/Donators, once that post is up and running, go ahead and choose an author and fandom. Alternatively, you may choose a fandom without specifying the author and one will volunteer to write for you.
--Go HERE or click on the banner to donate. The site is verisign secured and all donations go directly to the Susan G. Komen foundation. There are alternatives for call-in and mail-in donations as well if you do not feel comfortable using your credit card online.
--Once ovariesofsteel receives notice of your donation, she will communicate this to your author and you will receive your drabble, ficlet, or fic.
