Orientation/ College
I just got back from orientation at the University of Kansas. The last two days have made me, more than anything, exited to go to college. I enrolled in all my classes and I have pretty cool schedule. Three days a week I don't start until 12:30 which is nice, however those same days I have classes until 5:30 so it evens out I guess. I made one friend which I didn't think would happen until several weeks into the year. He is in my major and seems pretty cool. He likes Bright Eyes a lot and has been to a lot of concerts in Lawrence so hopefully he can show me around.
Job
I have been keeping pretty busy this summer. Work started two weeks ago and is pretty exhausting. We put in 65 hours, getting up at 5 am and getting back sometime between 8 and 10. Our job is thinning corn and I guess we are pretty specialized and highly sought after workers because we traveled to Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, and Slater to do our job. This method seems highly inefficient for our employer because he is required to pay us to sit in vans all the way to our job location. I have had a chance to witness some beautiful Iowa landscapes. The day we traveled to Illinois we took highway 2 in southern Iowa. If anyone is ever going to Illinois I would highly suggest taking this road instead of the interstate. It is really hilly and there are some cool old farm towns, everything felt slower and more natural. Anyway, that is the impression I got from driving by at 60 mph.
Vacation/ quests
I went to lake Okoboji last week with my family. It was nice weather and was very relaxing. Big thanks for the people who came and visited me, I had a good time, I hope you did as well. Karl introduced me to M83 on the trip and I have been listening to it non-stop since. It is very beautiful music. We quested for two things on the trip and found neither, hot-chicks and brewskis. Basically we suck. Alex and karl got some pretty hot picks of the trip hopefully they will post them soon.
Intonation
I really want to go the the Intonation Music festival, but have neither a ticket, a ride, or a place to stay so if anyone could hook me up with any of that I would grateful. Ben. I know your Grandma has a huge house.
Boxing
I know I said a long time ago I was going to start a boxing club and I think the time is finally approaching. I am planning on the first, um, rumble to take place shortly after the Euro-trip kids get back. Myself and Adam are buying gloves. Andy is buying one head gear and I need one other person to buy a head gear. At first I thought a weight class system would work for the fights, but I have revised my thinking to the challenge method. That would be more fair. OR, if anyone has a sweet algorithm for boxing let me know. You know like size of bicep+arm span+how many kids beaten up= 903.
