LJ & Scrapbook

Jun 05, 2012 16:00

I'm so overwhelmed by the last 6 months of LJ fuckups that I can't even work on the aggregated post of what they've messed up. It's just too much.

However, the scrapbook thing...

I was migrated while I was on vacation, with slow access & a tiny screened netbook, so I didn't really dig into it much. Got back home, though, and poked at things, and discovered that the userinfo page said I had 4400+ items in scrapbook, while the migration e-mail said they'd moved 2230 files.

Wut?

On the news post, I posted:

So. Can you tell me why my userinfo page says this (from the original version of Scrapbook):

4,400+ files in Scrapbook

while my "Migration of your photos is complete" e-mail says this:

Photos transferred: 2230.

Honestly, that's a smidge over half. I can't even BEGIN to figure out what's been lost. What the HELL did you DO?

and a second comment:

Oh, and by the way, the supposed detailed report leads to a page-not-found error.

Thanks so much.

I REALLY regret buying my permanent account now, and missing the chance to get a DW one.

fiddlingfrog, who must be staff, I guess; not that there's a way to identify this, answered me with:

Copy/paste from a few days ago:

Your profile count is a simple counter, like an odometer. It only goes up, and it ticks up every time you add a new image. Unfortunately, it looks like the migration is treating each migrated image as a new upload, so your profile count is going to be roughly double of what it actually is (depending on how many images you've deleted in the past).

I had 474 images migrated, so my profile count went from 400+ before migration to 900+ after migration.

So, yes, it IS a known issue, and obviously (if they're using a copypasta response) something more than one person has asked about. However, they STILL haven't posted it in the body of an actual news post. Nope, it's buried in pages of comments. Even after I responded to their answer:

Thank you very much for answering me.

However, if this is a c/p response, it's obvious that it's affected/upset/concerned more than one user. Perhaps this info should be put in a MAIN post on the News comm, instead of being lost in comments that not everyone has time to read?

I really want to SHAKE them until perhaps it gets through. They just. Do. Not. Get. It.
