I know, I rarely update LJ anymore. I do read it regularly but there is less than one post per day here and I don't know how many people are still out there. I often have post floating about in my head that never make it into print, I suppose due to laziness ( Read more... )

I'm still here but I can't make time to post. :( I'm so behind that I just give up completely. I just went diving yesterday in Monterey and conditions were amazing. I take it you did not join NCUPS' shootout?

Nah, I didn't go to the shootout. I've never actually taken photos in Monterey. I'm ashamed to say I don't dive Monterey very often, although I really should since it's so close. Glad you had some good conditions as I've been hearing that lately the condition have pretty much sucked.

Hey have you done a trip to Baja for whale sharks? I think I remember you posting about that... I'm thinking of going down there either September or October.

I've been to Baja at least eight times and have seen a total of one whale shark :/ Although, to be fair, those were not whale shark-specific dives. However, last summer we went to Isla Mujeres on the other side of Mexico and saw (literally) hundreds of whale sharks. They gather out there every July/August and you can snorkel with so many sharks you have to be careful to not run into them. Here are my photos from last year ( ... )

WOWWWWWW@your whale shark pics
I've only snorkeled with them once in the Philippines last year and I forgot to pack something so I only had disposable film pics. :| Still, it was an awesome experience, and I want to repeat it! Isla Mujeres looks like the perfect spot.

I haven't really started looking up dive sites in Baja. Now that I've factored in finance stuff though, I think I'm just going to do a liveaboard in SoCal and save my money for my annual asia trip. Thanks for the dive op tips; I'll bookmark them.
