I miss DC.
So I've been watching the protests in DC, desperately wishing I could be there to participate. I left DC while Bush was busy stealing his first election and while I think about my old town all the time. Fortunately I live in Miami, where no one gives a shit about anything but itself. I feel like such an asshole watching this on tv while it rains there. I should be there. I should be doing something.
I was reading somewhere that the $225 billion dollars that the Bush tax cuts saved the super rich is actually really close to the price tag of hurricane relief on the gulf coast. God has a sense of humor it seems...
Blackwater is a mercenary force with really close ties to the Republican party that got government contracts for "security work" in Louisiana. Translation, mercenaries now decide whether people live and die in that city. They've unleashed mercenaries on Americans! Now they can go through what Iraquis are going through. Every time you hear about contractors that have been killed in Iraq, well, most of them are mercenaries. People who CHOOSE to be there because they get six figure salaries for doing so. Also it lets them indulge in the type of carnage that gives their ilk boners. Four of them died in Fallujah. Forgive me for not mourning. They're not like the troops that we've got there, because they have better guns, better armour, better vehicles, and much much better salaries, and unlike our troops they CHOOSE to be there.
Eh, fuck it. I need beer. Oh, and that new Subway Chicken Parmesian sandwich looks good.
