Perth

Again, I have been tardy in my updating of this badboy...my apologies..its been a busy week!

So last weekend Auriane and I decided to make the trek cross Australia to the West Coast and visit the city of Perth-Fremantle. If you've ever seen a map of Australia, it's pretty much just cities on the east coast and perth on the opposite side of the country with not much other than desert in between. Either way, it was worth the 4 hour flight. The place is freakin' gorgeous.

Our hostel was killer, the Ocean Beach Backpackers...it was in Cottesloe Beach..just outside of perth. The view from our window overlooked the indian ocean...here are a few pics:

Here's the beach right outside our hostel:

Perth is a city like most others, buildings, trees, people...you know, the whole deal. Fremantle, on the other hand, is like Perth's little brother...totally scenic with killer pubs, bars and restaurants. Not to mention the hundreds of ice cream places that Auriane (and most girls I presume) feel the need to eat at twice a day. The harbour was really nice too!

On the Saturday we decided to fulfill every little kids dream and go swimming with dolphins...we basically just snorkelled around and they came and swam around us...sooo freakin' cool!

A few kilometres off the coast is Rottnest Island...despite a terrible name, it is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been. No private cars are allowed on the island, so the best way to get around is by renting a bike and pedal up and down the coast in search of your own private beach

That's a sting ray

After only a short 4 day jaunt over on that side of the country, I had to hustle back to melbourne to meet up with the Queen of Millen..my mom!

Mama had made a lil' trip to melbourne for 4 days before she was going to Sydney and New Zealand. I got the pleasure of chillin' with her for the better part of this past week.

We went out for dinner the first night, the second day she spent here hanging out at my residence (I also cooked her a delicious meal IF i do say so myself)where we also visited the wildlife sanctuary on campus so that she could see some kangaroos, and on the third day we went on a river cruise and went to the melbourne zoo where she could see penguins and koalas. Very cool times...here are some pics:

It's been a wicked past few weeks, but its time to crack down on the studies as lots of papers due next week.

Coming up: end of semester mini-bender (next week), exams, trip to the gold coast, keller's arrival. Stay tuned!!

take care, comb yer hair,

peace out-

G-boy and the special sauce.
