Okay, not really, but I had to say it once. Golden Globe nominations were announced today, and already I feel like I'm behind on my movie viewing. Too much timing making these things, and not enough time watching the good ones. At least I've got a handy guide, if you trust the Foreign Press to give you a critical view of what's worth watching, that is.
Handily enough, though, a lot of what got nominated in one form or another were things I had already thought about going to see. So I don't see it quite so much as giving in to hype, but instead having fantasy and reality collide for once. Maybe it's a blue moon, this month.
In any case: the real reason I posted? I wanted to congratulate Pierce for his nomination for
The Matador. I'm damn proud of this movie, and I'm damn glad it got recognized in some fashion -- especially this fashion, because our dear Mr. Brosnan is totally amazing in it. If you haven't gotten a chance to see it at one of the film festivals, it'll be opening in New York and LA just before Christmas, with limited and then wider release to come in January.
Thus ends the pimpage.
