Tutorial #1!!
Ok, I seem to have learnt how to make lj-cuts (finally!!). I'm keeping my fingers crossed hoping that everything will work as it should, cause I want to post my first tutorial, anyways, here we go:
Tutorial #1!! : UNDERWORLD ICON
I'm soo excited! I hope all the lj-cuts are OK 'cause I've been having a lot of trouble with them. Anyways, I wanted to share with all of you how I managed to make this icon (on PS7)
We'll go from this:
to this:
1- Take the original pic, crop & resize. Sharpen once if needed.
2- Duplicate the base layer & set the copy to Screen.
3- New layer, fill with #EB2548 & set to Screen, opacity 60 %.
4- New layer, fill with #E5CC99 & set to Multiply.
5- New layer, fill with #A2A484, set to Overlay.
6- New layer, fill with #0F1842, set to Exclusion.
7- Duplicate the base layer again, put the copy on top of all the other layers and set it to Soft Light.
8- Next paste a texture by darkdreaming (I think, or the set is called Darkdreaming, if anyone knows who it is from please tell me!), and set it to Screen.
9- New layer, fill with #DEC6A6, set to Color Burn.
10- New layer, add a brush with the airbrush enabled by http://colorbox.ti-fi.com (icon set 04), in #EB2548 (same colour used on step 3), set the layer to Screen.
11- Add the text on the side using the colour #779198. Then add an 'Outer Glow' effect to the text layer (Layer >Layer Style >Outer Glow), my settings where this (hope you can understand them): Blend Mode to Vivid Light, for the colour I chose one in a lighter & brighter tone than #779198, Opacity 75 %- Noise 0%, Technique: Softer - Spread 0% - Size 5 px, Quality; chose the diagonal drawing - Range 50% - Jitter 0%.And that's all folks! If the image needs to be sharpened try to Sharpen Edges on the last duplicate of the base layer (from step 7). ^_^ Done!
Take into account that the results may vary according to the picture, texture or brushes you choose. If you use any of the ones from this tut. remember to credit the owners!
I'd love to read your comments (if you think this was a bunch of crap then forget it, I don't want to know! :P ) and see what you guys come up with! Any suggestions are also welcome (I'm really a beginner here).
