today is my last day in france. pretty fucking crazy. it doesn't feel like it should be as easy as getting on a plane to go home...everything i've done and seen here has been so drastically different from my life at home that they seem like different universes. in the end, despite the rough times and the bitching and moaning, i really really really loved my semester here. i'll miss the friends i made here and my host family and the food and the snow and all sorts of things that i'm sure will occur to me later. i learned a great deal more than i thought i would too. europe always seemed so tame as a place to go abroad compared to africa or asia or something, but just leaving the u.s. for such a long time makes a massive difference. anyway, here's a little taste:

lessons learned by emily in europe:
all cheese is good cheese
10:30am is NOT to early for lunch
european boys do not respect american girls
tights under jeans will keep you warm all day
all french music sucks
all french bread is amazing
london has incredible indian food
the budget backpackers hostel in edinburgh, scotland is the greatest hostel in europe
it is impossible to go to paris and not have a good time
host parents WILL get mad at you if you fuck up
in-n-out is a fucking godsend
water pressure is also a miracle
being away automatically makes you realize who you really can't live without

wow, that was mostly about food. oh well. peace out europe. maybe i'll see you again someday.
