"I'll go git mah wrench!"

I cleaned out both the computers today. They needed it.

Found out, my old video card, which was in Kitten's machine, lost its cooling fan. We had jury-rigged one, but it is now toast. There is no replacement; we looked, hence the rigging.

Fortunately, we got a second-hand video card. Some Radeon knock-off. I swapped my currently working card out of my machine and gave Kitten mine, as to make sure her video card wouldn't fail and melt down in the near future.

I popped in the ATI. The good news is, it works. Bad news, don't ask it to do any real work. Would not do Titan Quest or NWN on the lowest settings. TQ ran like a champ for all of 20 seconds, then did a force-refresh over and over. NWN did the horrible hiccup I recall when I first installed it with a 64 video card. That was the game that I got the 128 that's in Kitten's machine.

The hand-me-down is also a 128... but it's not acting like one. New drivers didn't help too much. It's cool, since I play a lot of older games on my machine that don't ask too much from the sources... but I hope to play NWN and TQ with my Kitty again sometime soon. Still, I'm glad my system is up and running.

I also got a busted-monitor Micron laptop. It lacks a CD-rom, but I believe the processor is more powerful. Hard to say, since the 98 OS will only tell me that it's a Pentium Processor, and the stuff I found online states that it's either a 233 or 300. I'd like to do more researh to see if it's worth it to get the monitor repaired. If it has a problem streaming video, looking much like an old-school gameboy (just like my other one) then it's kinda pointless to repair.

Just rambling. What's your thoughts, readers?
