Recap Post - August 31st, 2009

Aug 31, 2009 15:05

Since I'm pretty sure I'm the only person in my building without a TV, I went down to the lounge to watch the episode. The TV quality there is...not good. :/ Though I saw the whole thing. Classes start tomorrow, though, so until I get my own TV and am able to tape the episodes, G will most likely be handling the recap posts.

Anywho. Today was kinda a dry day regarding commentary. Since these are becoming more like review posts, rather than recaps, let me run down the list of what happened:

-Liberty and Teri fool Janet into thinking they're going to Chicago to look at schools with Token Asian Girl Liberty's friend, Mackenzie, when in fact Teri and Craig (who told Rosanna he was going to New York on a business trip) were taking Liberty to an abortion clinic. The ruse falls apart when Janet sees Mackenzie in Oakdale. Meanwhile, in Chicago, Liberty finds out she'll half to wait at least a day to murder her child have an abortion. Craig gets Liberty and Teri a room, and then he and Teri go out to get food and check out restaurants. Liberty meanwhile sees that Janet has been calling, panics, and goes back home on her own. Once home, Liberty feeds Janet a line of bull that Mackenzie bailed on her, and she went off to spend time on her own to get away from the grieving at the farm. Unable to think of an excuse as to where she was, Parker comes to her rescue and says she was with him. Rosanna, meanwhile, had already headed off to Chicago because...just because, and somehow found the hotel room Craig checked out. She enters to see Teri and Craig standing together, confirming, in her mind, that they are having an affair.

Honey's Commentary: Mackenzie was pretty cute ^.^

They totally did not think Rosanna going to Chicago through.

Teri whining that she doesn't want Janet to be mad at her got on my nerves. If that was the case, maybe you shouldn't be sneaking her daughter off to get an abortion, dumbass. I hope Janet blows her top once she figures out Teri's involvement in this. If G (or for that matter our other sister) ever helps any of my future daughters get an abortion, she can bet her ass I wouldn't talk to her ever again. Uh...you're on notice, G. I guess. o_0

JACK/JANET LOVE <3<3<3<3 Seriously, they have taken over the #2 spot on my list of favorite couples for ATWT, bumping Casey/Ali down to #3.

-James calls Paul in for a command meeting, and Emily decides to accompany him. Before they get there, though, Audrey drags Henry to visit James, as Ray has threatened Audrey's life if she doesn't pay off what she owes. Audrey wants James to give Henry an advance on the inheritance money. James instead informs them that he's changed his will to make Paul the sole heir, based on Paul growing a set and turning James in. Audrey and Henry leave as Paul and Emily enter. James tells Paul of the changed will, and Paul tells James to piss up a rope. Audrey calls James lawyer, Hanson, for "legal advice", while plotting to steal James' new will before he can sign it. Henry and Vienna head downstairs for lunch, but Henry goes back up to see what is taking Audrey. He walks in to find Hanson drugged on the couch, and Audrey convinces him to help her hide him. After giving Vienna the slip, Audrey and Henry hide Hanson in the boiler room. Meanwhile, at Fairwinds, Emily assures Paul that he's nothing like James, but Paul must convince himself of that. Paul asks Emily to marry him.

Honey's Commentary: Lucy Coe needs to wear her hair up. When she doesn't, it gives her face a funny shape. Speaking of, Emily's hair was great today.

Basically this is just setting up the "Audrey and Henry plan to kill James" storyline, which makes me wonder if they'll be arrested and that's why Maddie's reunion with them is apparently "difficult". Maybe they'll just get arrested for drugging and kidnapping Hanson. Poor guy.

I've noticed that a lot of soap villains make important decisions based on vague emotional reasoning. Take for instance, James giving Paul his money because he had "become a man". I suppose James being not all there accounts for this, but you kinda expect an evil bastard to stay an evil bastard, yes? This can go one of two ways: they actually kill James because Anthony Herrera decides to retire, or, It's A Trap!

I really, really, really liked Paul and Emily today. Their dialogue was excellent. The last scenes reminded me of when The Creepiest Colonel "died" and Luke did the whole "You don't have to polish your father's image" speech, except Emily went the next step and told Paul that he had to convince himself of it, too. Of course I prefer the Luke/Noah scene, because Luke/Noah >>> Paul/Emily, but today was really sweet, and it reminded me of why I like this couple so much, even though their sexytiems are DNW. Speaking of, "let's go find that chandelier" is my new favorite phrase. Win!

Despite my rage at Liberty and some of the holes in the storyline, I feel like at least these two storylines are putting the show in an upswing. This is real drama. The sense of anticipation is there. I'm actually pretty miffed that I can't record the show tomorrow. As G says, "I love when things get shitty!"
