You and Me and One Spotlight
I don't want tomorrow to happen. I don't want Reid to die. I don't want Luke to be broken-hearted.
I don't want to have to keep reminding myself that this is fiction, and then still get upset thinking about the ending anyway. So in order to help myself, I thought I would share a song.
Strangely, when I'm sad, sad songs cheer me up. You'd think that I would listen to something peppy and happy, but that never works. I always need my music to identify with my feelings first, and then slowly I cheer myself up. Weird, but it always seems to work.
So. This isn't really a sad song. There's lots of hope in it, and even peacefulness. Honesty. So when you listen to it and think of LuRe and their ending like I do, hopefully you'll hear the same hope and peacefulness and honesty and love that I do. You'll imagine this is somewhat from Reid's POV, taking place sometime before he passes away and also sometime after. Maybe when Luke meets him again. I dunno. It's hard to explain. Maybe you guys can tell me what you think and how you feel when you listen.
This is one of my favourite Yellowcard songs, it was so even before I applied it to LuRe. Now it's really one of my favourites, because it will always remind me of these two awesome characters I knew and loved.
And seriously, screw canon. Seriously. Let us abolish it as soon as it happens.
