So, I just wanted to update once again. I usually write about school, because right now, and probably for the next year, my life will revolve mostly around school. So, of course, this update is about school.
I have had two tests (or exams...Jenny knows I hate that word) so far this semester. My grades are: Test 1 - 89 and Test 2 - 87. I am pretty proud of myself, because I have been studying hard for these tests. Test 3 is next week, so I have begun to prepare for that one, as well. Also, I have had two check-offs this semester, so far. I didn't pass my first check-off, and I was pretty upset about that. But...all that means is I have to go to an hour of mandatory one-on-one practice with an instructor and then redo my check-off. So, I think it will work out fine. I had my second check-off today, and I was really, really, really (did I mention really?) nervous about it. I was stressing so much yesterday, and I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I didn't pass my first one. However, I got lucky in this check-off. I had to calculate and regulate flow rate for IVs. I could either get micro drip (which is so difficult), macro drip, or an IV pump. For the micro and macro, you have to actually count and regulate the drips for the correct flow rate without the use of a pump. I was so happy, because I ended up getting the pump. I got off pretty easy. So, now that is one more thing off my back.
Tomorrow, I start my clinicals at Shands. I am kind of excited and nervous at the same time, but I think it will go just fine. My friend Michelle is in the same clinical group with me, and we are both really excited about that. We are going to help each other out as much as possible.
Last but not least, I started my new job this past weekend. I worked 12 hour shifts Sunday and Monday. All-in-all, my experience this weekend was pretty good. Sunday I was exhausted and the day was sooooo long, but Monday I had so much energy at the end of the day, and the time went by pretty quickly. I think my new job will really help me with school. I got to do some things I haven't even done in nursing school yet, so that was pretty exciting. I am actually looking forward to the next time I work.
Well, that's all folks...
